Amistad Cristiana International and the Southern Baptist Convention
In the last days information regarding my departure from the Southern Baptist Convention and the Georgia Baptist Convention came to my attention. It appears that my intention to remain quiet after the last annual meeting in Nashville and focused on my responsibilities as a local church pastor, college professor, and most importantly as a husband and father of four were seen as an exit from the Baptist fellowship.
I cannot deny that events preceding, during, and even after the last annual meeting in Nashville were seen by our local and international ministry with much concern and with the intention to evaluate our continuity in the convention. To those that may not know, Amistad Cristiana International has a presence in the U.S. as well as in other parts of Latin America and Europe. However, Amistad Cristiana International has remained not only verbally but also financially in cooperation with the state and national conventions. If our decision should change, it will be communicated through the proper channels.
In the next days and after completing my twelve weeks of rest, I should reengage in some denominational responsibilities in the state of Georgia.
My constant prayer is that we remain focus on the Great Commission, that we elect godly leadership for positions of service, and that we never compromise our fundamental belief that the Bible is above any cultural ideology and any human political play.
May we all live to honor Christ,
