Emir Caner to speak at Amistad Cristiana for Hispanic Heritage Month
President Caner is not new to Amistad Cristiana. He first visited us in February 2018 and spoke to a packed house when the church was still meeting at the chapel on Browns Bridge Rd. There he shared his testimony of conversion from Islam to Christ, his message impacted many lives. He then returned in December of the same year, once the church moved to a larger location, and spoke of Christ as the source of our hope in times of crisis. In that snowy Sunday morning, several trusted in Christ.
This Sunday, as part of our Hispanic Heritage Month celebration, Dr. Caner will be back at Amistad Cristiana International. Pastor Chavez says of Caner “Dr. Caner is a close friend, the president of one of the growing Christian colleges in America came to visit our church when we were still in the planting stage. He trusted in the process and through the years we have worked together and supported each other. Besides he loves Hispanic culture and enjoys our food and music.”
Truett-McConnell University and Amistad Cristiana International have developed a ministry partnership. Some of our students attend the university and pastor Chavez serves as Visiting Professor of Global Studies. This historic visit to a Hispanic church along with other renowned Georgia Baptist leaders who spoke from our pulpit in the past such as Tyler Smiley, Bucky Kennedy, Thomas Hammond, and Jojo Thomas, shows the spirit of frienship that exists among English and Spanish speaking leaders.
